It’s hard not to fall in love with Siracusa, for the old town of Ortigia is a gem everyone should see in their lifetime. The town center is pedestrian only – a real treat if you want to explore, discover and take pictures at a leisurely pace – and around every corner you will find grandiose piazzas, stunning marble buildings and churches, quaint courtyards and picturesque alleys. Piazza Minerva, the Cathedral, the fountain of Artemide, and the Castello Maniace, built between 1232 and 1240, are only some of the beautiful things one can see in Oritgia, and shouldn’t be missed.
