Knossos Palace

Not too far from Heraklio sits the amazing Knossos Palace, one of the most important historical monuments in Greece, and famous for being the backdrop of important myths such as the Minotaur one. This archeological site was discovered in 1878 by Minos Kalokairinos and was later excavated by Sir Arthur Evans and today can be visited by those who want to have a unique insight into how the Cretan palace was around 1500 years B.C. Go early in the morning to avoid long lines at the ticket office.
