Porto Empedocle

A small town by the sea, Porto Empedocle isn’t far from Agrigento and is famous for being the birthplace of famed Sicilia author Andrea Camilleri. Its center is pretty, with a few stores and cafés, mostly located in Via Roma, to sit down and enjoy a quiet afternoon. If you are a fan, don’t miss the two literary statues in town: one represents Nobel Prize winner Luigi Pirandello, the other one Andrea Camilleri’s fictional character Salvo Montalbano.
