Agrigento, located on the southern coast of Sicily, has an ancient history, as it was founded around 580 B.C. and is known, around the world, for being home to some of the most amazing Greek temples in the Mediterranean. While the outskirts are nothing to write home about, the city center is pretty, and a nice place to take a stroll and eat gelato. If you are looking for a place to go to the beach, nearby San Leone is your best bet. If you are in the mood for some culture, visit the Casa di Pirandello, where the famed Italian author used to live.
